The plant blooms for a long time – from June to October, therefore it is very actively used in floriculture and floristry . This is a heat-loving flower, so it prefers to grow in sunny areas. The soil is preferably well-drained with a neutral reaction. Needs moderate but regular watering , especially during the drought period, and shearing faded inflorescences. After shearing, it actively recovers and blooms. Propagated by seeds, which are sown on seedlings .

The types and varieties of ageratum are very diverse, they differ in their color and shape of flowers, the height of the stems, the presence or absence of an edge.

Popularly, this plant is known as Houston’s ageratum (Ageratum houstonianum), named after the scientist who discovered it, or Mexican (Ageratum mexicanum).

All flowers of this species are divided into three types:

  • dwarf – less than 15 cm.

Ageratum white or as it is often called ageratum white ball (Ageratum Summer Snow), as well as blue plant varieties, is very popular among flower growers. It fits perfectly into various floristic compositions in the open field.

The plant is very compact and graceful, in the process of its growth it forms into a small spherical bush about 20 cm high. Therefore, it can easily be grown in flowerpots and boxes. The leaves of the Mexican white ageratum are very densely pubescent, so they seem voluminous. Its stems are erect and strong.

The inflorescences of this plant are distinguished by a snow-white color and a very dense structure, their diameter reaches two centimeters. The flowers themselves are also densely pubescent and have a very attractive appearance. It tolerates a haircut and recovers very quickly after it.

Also often referred to as white plants are blue-white varieties of this flower. For example, the ageratum of ice, which has amazing inflorescences of a white-blue color, as it were, “shimmering” and iridescent. Pink and lilac varieties of undersized ageratum

Ageratum pink is represented by two varieties:

Variety “Cloud Nine” and dwarf ageratum

Ageratum cloud nine or blue – also very popular among gardeners and flower growers. This species is characterized by very early flowering and compact appearance, it is thermophilic and drought-resistant.
