Floristry is not just the ability to beautifully arrange a bouquet or decorate a room with flowers, and a florist is not a fashionable name for a flower shop seller. Floristry is a whole art, where skill and ability alone is indispensable, where you need to feel and understand the perfect beauty, energy and vitality of a flower.

A little about florists

The first florists were, apparently, the ancient Egyptians, but today huge horizons are opening before the masters of floristry: from creating small compositions from living and artificial plants, to developing floral design of premises, decorating events and performing unique works, for example, portraits or clothes from flowers .

A florist is a creative person, not devoid of a sense of taste and harmony, and a developed imagination and fantasy, courage and love for experiments are the necessary conditions for creating original and vibrant projects. But even without theoretical knowledge about plants, the conditions for their maintenance, storage and care for them, a combination of different types of flowers in a bouquet is indispensable. And the love for flowers and the desire to decorate people’s lives and bring them joy is simply a must. It is interesting that in our country there are more women among florists, while in Europe this profession is chosen mainly by men.

For those who want to learn the basics of floristry, there are floristry courses. The training period lasts from two weeks, but in such a short time it is difficult to become a true professional, so it is better to take the time and fully master all the knowledge by choosing a longer program.

Classes in theory and practice are very diverse, in addition to traditional techniques for creating flower arrangements, the courses will offer to study exotic themes, reveal the secrets of working with various floral materials, and help to reveal and express creative potential. After completing the training, graduates can work as designers of flower shops, florist-decorators or phytodesigners, which is confirmed by a certificate of the established sample.

However, the school of floristry is only the very first stage, the skill of a florist needs constant improvement, because floristry is changeable and subject to fashion. And it is becoming more and more popular, because an exquisite hand-made bouquet is the best gift, and an apartment or house immersed in flowers will always delight and cheer you up.
