Tenacious: description and cultivation in the garden

HomeFlowers for the letter JTenacious: description and cultivation in the garden

Flowers of the tenacious are frequent guests of personal plots. And basically, due to the fact that they require minimal care from the gardener – the survivors spread around the site at lightning speed and do not need weeding at all, since dense thickets do not leave weeds the slightest chance. Sometimes tenacious grass is called oak forest: this is due to the fact that in natural conditions it prefers oak forests.

The tenacious plant (Ajuga) lives up to its name one hundred percent. The speed with which the plant conquers new territories is amazing. Of course, in the gardens they try to breed the least aggressive varieties of creeping tenacity (A. reptans). But they are also very active.

The tenacious throw out a mustache that looks like a strawberry. A rosette develops at the end of each tendril, which easily takes root when in contact with the ground. In the spring, a peduncle appears from the outlet.

According to the description, the inflorescence of the survivor looks like a pyramid with small blue flowers (there are varieties with pink ones). How the awakened bees and other midges rejoice in them! It is necessary to plant survivors in sunny places.

In the shade, the color of the leaves fades. Varietal plants in full shade practically do not develop.

Tenacious ideally fills empty spaces. It can plant gaps in paving, tree trunks, hard-to-reach places in flower beds.

When planting in a flower garden several times a season, check if the tenacity has spread too much. If necessary, remove whiskers with young rosettes. It’s easier when the tenacious grows next to shrubs or large perennials (hosts, soft cuff). They are not afraid of the “hugs” of the tenacious.

Many varieties amazingly emphasize the beauty of roses.

Thus, the ‘Multicolor’ cultivar, which has marbled leaves, goes well with yellow roses.

Variety ‘Burgundy Glow’ – with crimson.

‘Purpurea’, ‘Chocolate Chip’, ‘Variegata’ and ‘Arctic Fox’ make a wonderful backdrop for roses with flowers in very delicate light shades.

The tenacity is so unpretentious that they can easily endure even being covered with earth during the winter hilling of roses.

In survivors, varietal characteristics are not transmitted when sowing seeds. Therefore, immediately after flowering, it is necessary to cut off the flower stalks, otherwise the green original species will sprout among the varietal plantings and over time will suppress them.

Alas, it is impossible to defeat the turf of weeds by planting survivors. But a well-grown curtain of tenacious, planted in a place freed from weeds, will hardly require weeding, so dense is the carpet of its bright shoots.

Tenacity is very good to plant with powerful bulbs – daffodils, anzur onions, tulips. The bulbous ones calmly make their way through the interweaving of the tenacious shoots, and when they retire, the landing site does not remain empty.
