General Growing Recommendations

This culture, as already noted, does not require special care. It is enough to follow the recommendations below.

Choice of location. Most varieties of aquilegia of the Barlow series are not demanding on growing conditions, they can equally successfully bloom in sunny and semi-shaded areas. In full shade, plants will not bloom as intensely as in good light.

The soil. This culture can develop even on scarce substrates, but if you plant a plant on fertile soil, the difference in splendor and decorativeness will be obvious.

Watering. Aquilegia is moisture-loving, it is important to take this into account when breeding it. The drying of the layer of earth under the bush will negatively affect the abundance of flowering. On hot days, the flower should be irrigated at least 2 times in 7 days. For irrigation, settled warm water is suitable. Irrigate the bush should be from above, so that water gets on the leaves. Water procedures should be performed in the evening to avoid sunburn of foliage.

Topdressing. Fertilizer is applied 3-4 times per season. The first time the soil is enriched in the first half of June, using a nitrogen-containing composition. A week later, the nutritional composition of the mullein is again introduced. The third dressing is applied at the end of flowering wood ash. A couple of times during the summer it is useful to feed the plant with a mineral complex, combining this work with watering.

Other care. After watering, one should not neglect such procedures as loosening the soil near the bush, removing weeds. To maintain a neat appearance of the plant, faded inflorescences must be removed in a timely manner.
