One of the varieties of violets is the marsh violet. This is a herbaceous perennial plant. Marsh violet is a perennial. Plant height from 5 to 15 cm. Marsh violet is a hygrophyte – it grows mainly in conditions of damp meadow moisture, as a rule, on damp soils. The places where this plant is most often found are the banks of reservoirs, swampy areas, swampy forests and meadows, etc.

Marsh violet: breeding methods and conditions of detention

Marsh violet is quite demanding on temperature. Therefore, the methods of reproduction and the conditions for keeping marsh violets differ from the methods of breeding flower crops familiar to gardeners.

Flowers, as a rule, solitary, on pedicels, develop in the axils of basal leaves. The color scheme is poor: from white to dark purple. The aroma of flowers is quite strong, pleasant. It blooms most often in April-May, bears fruit in June.

Places of growth: southern mountain slopes, edges, clearings, clearings, broad-leaved forests. Well cultivated. Preference is given to loose fertile soils on sunny sides. Some shade is allowed. Watering is necessary as the soil dries up. Fragrant violet is included in the Red Book.

Fragrant violet: cultivation

This plant reproduces by seeds and vegetatively. In general, fragrant violet is a self-pollinating plant. There is no self-ejecting mechanism. Vegetatively propagated by ground shoots. The planted shoot blooms only in the second year.

For propagation of fragrant violets, it is best to use the seedling method of growing. To do this, in March or April, depending on the climatic conditions of your region, seeds are sown in a box. The container is pre-filled with soil that is light in structure with an admixture of soddy soil. Seedlings appear fairly quickly. When the second true leaf appears, the seedlings dive into separate containers. Fragrant violets can be planted in the ground after the threat of frost has passed and the soil warms up to +15 degrees.

Fragrant violet, due to its rather rich chemical composition, is widely used for medical purposes, as well as in cosmetology.
