History of the flower delivery service

When and who first began to provide a flower delivery service is not known for certain. It is possible that the flower delivery service was born along with the custom of giving flowers as a sign of admiration and attention. It is difficult to name the exact date when the first flower bouquet was presented. After all, thousands of years ago, ardent young men presented flowers to their beloved, explaining themselves in wonderful feelings. And if a squire, at the request of a valiant caballero, carried a luxurious bouquet to a beautiful lady, then this was a medieval, and perhaps the first flower delivery in history.

But the bouquet in the form as we know it appeared already in the 14-15 centuries in France. At first it was one of the types of room arrangement. Then there was a fashion for brides to wear a crown woven from snow-white roses for a wedding. Naturally, no one thought about the delivery of flowers at that time, and the maids did the purchase, arranging bouquets and decorating the premises with flowers, based on their own taste and little experience.

Well, if you look at Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, you can see a significant flourishing of floristry. Gardens bloomed everywhere, and men and women adorned themselves with exquisite boutonnieres. It is impossible to say how these delicate miniature jewelry was delivered. But it’s too early to talk about real flower delivery.

At the same time, admiring fans sent luxurious baskets of flowers to their idols – red roses, white lilies, bright tulips. In St. Petersburg, the brilliant Evdokia Istomina then shone on the stage, and on the Moscow theater stage, the audience applauded and presented flowers to Mikhail Shchepkin and other actors who glorified the Russian theater.

The established practice of flower delivery arose by the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, both in Europe and in Russia, it was possible to deliver a bouquet to the addressee not on their own, but with the help of a courier. But they had not even thought about ordering a bouquet in advance at that time. After all, even in such a large and Europeanized city as St. Petersburg, there were only a few flower shops. And only very noble and rich people could afford to buy a flower arrangement. Today, the same prompt delivery of flowers allows literally every resident of the city to receive this elite service, and to please their loved ones with a spectacular bouquet of flowers.

Flower delivery gained real popularity during the emergence and development of the Internet. Thanks to the emergence of online flower shops, distances have ceased to play such a significant role in the lives of modern people. Fast delivery of flowers, as well as all over the world, is a real celebration of warmth, love and understanding, allowing us to become closer to each other and express our best feelings.
