In representatives of different varieties, these stripes are also light green or red. Leaves 5-6.5 cm long, shiny, green above with stripes, lilac-purple below. The flowers are small, bright pink. Creeping shoots.

This is a brief description of the flower, for a detailed study, you can look at the photo of the zebrina.

Growing a zebrina plant at home

This plant is one of the best choices for those who like to grow flowers at home, as caring for a zebra is very simple.

The plant is ampelous, that is, hanging planters, baskets or high-standing pots / flowerpots are suitable for growing indoor zebrina so that the shoots can hang freely.

Dense foliage of unusual colors creates a decorative effect.

Despite the fact that the tropics are the birthplace of flowers, zebrina does not make high demands on environmental conditions. A very hardy plant. Prefers bright places, protected from direct sunlight. With a lack of light, the shoots become unsightly, since the color intensity directly depends on how much light the leaves receive.

The plant can be kept in living rooms throughout the year. If you have a balcony or veranda in the summer, you can keep the flower there, slightly shading. The optimal temperatures for caring for a zebra are 15 ° C in winter and 18-25 ° C in summer. Prefers moist air, so you can place the pot near a source of moisture (aquarium, indoor fountain) or put a small container of water next to it.

The photo shows the process of caring for a zebrina at home, a detailed description of which is below.

Care. Watering is moderate in summer, limited in winter. It is necessary to ensure that the soil ball is slightly moist. Twice a week in the warm season and one in the winter will be enough. Abundant watering will not harm the plant, unlike overdried soil, but some flower growers believe that this makes the color of the leaves less spectacular. It will be useful to regularly spray the flower.
Due to the rapid growth and creeping of the stems, zebrina quickly stretches, losing its shape and decorative effect. That is why it is recommended to periodically update the plant. To do this, you can simply trim from time to time, you can do cuttings. In the second case, the grower not only maintains the pet’s trade dress, but also gets the opportunity to reproduce it, keeping the cut apical cuttings in a moist substrate or in water, where they quickly take root.
A substrate suitable for planting and caring for young zebrins is prepared from leafy soil, humus and sand (1: 1: 1) with an acidic reaction (pH 4.5-5.5). The capacity for planting is chosen wide and shallow. Mandatory drainage is needed, as long shoots with dense foliage can be very heavy, and the plant’s root system is weak. You can feed with fertilizers for decorative leafy plants, observing the recommended dosage. Approximately once every two years, they are transplanted into the updated soil.
Zebrina blooms in spring and summer. To speed up growth and make the foliage more lush, some experts prune the flowers. In a room environment, it blooms only with full observance of all conditions of detention. Little affected by pests and diseases.

With proper care, the zebrina looks like this photo.
