Small shrub with creeping or ascending, often rough stems, pinnate emerald or gray-green leaves, creeping rhizomes with nodules of nitrogen-fixing bacteria. The flowers are white-pink or yellow, collected in umbellate inflorescences . They grow rapidly, in the southern regions they are considered malicious weeds.

Vyazels are unpretentious, bloom beautifully and for a long time, so some of the species are used as ground cover plants .

In the middle lane, a multi-colored perennial tie (C. varia), also called variegated tie (C. varia L), is common, a herbaceous plant about 40 cm tall, with branching lying stems up to 1 m long. It grows rapidly, forming elegant thickets, often propagated by self-seeding. It blooms in June-August with white-pink flowers, collected in hemispherical inflorescences. The fruits contain cardiac glycosides and are considered poisonous .

Popular varieties:

Amber powder and Emerald with bright emerald leaves and pink flowers, Penngift, characterized by enhanced growth.

Bush species are not frost-resistant enough; they are cultivated in areas with a mild climate.

Growing a tree in the garden

Planted in full sun or partial shade, prefers well-drained soil. Due to the presence of nitrogen-fixing bacteria, it can grow even on sandy slopes without requiring top dressing. Drought tolerant.

Propagated by spring division of rhizomes, or by seeds planted in the ground in June or seedlings in April. Seeds are pre-stratified, for which they are soaked, kept at 5-7 ° C for a week, then transferred to heat. Shoots appear at room temperature in 10-14 days. For better branching, seedlings are pinched over 3-4 leaves. Planted in early June.

Pruned in the spring, removing excess and damaged shoots.
