Echeveria – care

Lighting: full sun. If you are growing a flower at home, then it is advisable to place it near a sunny window, while it is preferable if the sun’s rays come from the south or west.

Soil Type: Carefully cared for, Echeveria thrives best in well-drained soil, while paying attention to the pH level, which should be around 6.0.

Watering: Echeveria – species require watering from spring to summer. Make sure your drainage system is perfect as this is very important for the flower. In winter, reduce the watering rate to monthly.

Fertilizers: At the beginning of the growing season, top dressing can be applied. You can also fertilize echeveria once a week, choosing the optimal rate of top dressing.

Propagation: Most species of these plants are easily propagated by cuttings from leaves. Echeveria, whose propagation by the previous method is not so difficult, can also be reproduced by planting seeds.

Repotting: This succulent needs repotting, preferably during the warm season. During this procedure, make sure that the earthen ball is dry, and then carefully remove the pot. By tapping, get rid of the old soil, and also make sure you remove any dead or rotten roots. Treat any cuts with a fungicide. Place the echeveria in a new container and fill it with new soil, spreading the roots during transplanting. Leave the flower dry for about a week, then start watering, but be careful with the watering rate to avoid root rot.

Additionally: most gardeners claim that echeveria is an easy succulent to grow, but for its development to be proper, several rules must be followed. First, do not allow water to sit for a long time at the rosette of foliage, as this provokes the process of decay, as well as the development of fungal diseases that can kill the flower. Secondly, constantly remove dead leaves at the very base, since it is dead leaves that create ideal conditions for the appearance of mealy mites, which can also cause serious damage to the plant. And, as with all succulents, be careful with watering and try to provide proper lighting.

Echeveria gray – Echeveria glauca

This species attracts most gardeners with its gorgeous foliage, which has an unusual greyish-blue hue. Echeveria sizaya is perfect for growing in pots, and the original color of the leaves will allow you to bring some zest to your garden.

Echeveria agavoid – Echeveria agavoides

This variety produces a stemless, star-shaped rosette of fleshy leaves. In diameter, it reaches about 20 cm. Echeveria agave is interesting for its flowers, which have a pink-red hue, and the petals are also partially colored in dark yellow. The flowering period is in the summer.
