Pros and cons of fresh flowers in the kitchen

There is hardly a less suitable place for fresh flowers than the kitchen.

Here, well, just a complete set of conditions for their death:

  • frequent significant temperature changes;
  • low humidity from a constantly working stove (its critical norm);
  • constant drafts.

All this is detrimental to any representatives of the flora. Only extremely rare living organisms can survive in such conditions.

At the same time, it is worth being surprised that in almost every house most indoor plants are located there. It is completely incomprehensible how they live in such conditions. Instead of placing fresh flowers in the kitchen, creating a cozy atmosphere, and enjoying comfort after a hard day’s work, most apartment owners still prefer the kitchen space to such plants.

Probably, in most cases this is due to the presence of direct sunlight, as well as the direction of the kitchen windows to a specific side of the world (north, south, west, east). For example, tropical or citrus plants (lemon, tangerine, pomegranate, pepper, small coffee tree) can only survive when placed near windows that face southeast, south, or southwest.

What colors to choose for the kitchen

If you still prefer the presence of flower arrangements in the kitchen interior, choose flowers with taste. Sunflowers look very lively and bright in the kitchen. Such plants give light and warmth on any, even the most cloudy day. Recently, an option that is in demand is also a composition of wildflowers. A variety of pots with daisies or cornflowers emphasize the delicate interior with their grace.

For those who still decide to decorate their kitchen, it is best to choose plants that are not too whimsical to the external climate. Usually they survive ideally in such conditions. These include: asparagus, begonia, dracaena, arrowroot, ivy, and tradescantia. It is best to either hang them higher or put them on the windowsill. Do not opt for flowers that have a pronounced or specific smell. It is unlikely that you will be pleased to feel it in the process of cooking. Also, from a sharp and constant smell, people tend to suffer from headaches.

Choose with taste

The free space of the kitchen should not be completely filled with flowers, try not to cross the line of common sense and good taste. Choose beautiful original pots, they can refresh and decorate your interior just as well.

The most important thing is that there is enough space for plants. After all, a cup of hot coffee, drunk in the morning in the so-called “green” kitchen, gives a lot of pleasure.
