What could be more beautiful than a handmade shabby chic bouquet? Perhaps, only compositions placed in a decorative container can compete with this miracle of decorative art. It may well be a cage in the style of shabby chic, originally intended for birds, but received new “guests” in the form of roses, jasmine, lilacs and forget-me-nots.

Master class “Bouquet with roses in the style of shabby chic”

To begin with, your attention is invited to the master class “Bouquet in the style of shabby chic in coral shades with peony roses (David Austin variety”), scabiosa, poppies and brunia.

In Western interiors, coral has always been popular.

In the last few years, coral has become one of the most popular shades in design and fashion. This color gives the interior warmth, cheerfulness, energy and comfort. Coral hues go great with colors like yellow, pink, white, grey, mint and light blue.

Peony-shaped English roses, white scabioses and brunia inflorescences are among the most common types of flowers for European bouquets at the present time.

Roses of the David Austin variety and their images are so often used in shabby interiors that they have become a kind of symbol of this style.

The composition of this shabby bouquet: five terry poppies, four scabioses, David Austin roses, a large classic rose, brunia, hare ears (Byzantine chistets).

The color scheme of the bouquet in the style of shabby: white, powdery, pink, coral, light yellow, gray-green, gray.

Brunia . The name of the genus was given in the 18th century by the French botanist Jean Baptiste Lamarck, but it is impossible to say with certainty in whose honor it was chosen.

Brunia is an unusual, spectacular plant, most often its silvery inflorescences can be seen in Christmas compositions or modern European bouquets.

Small flowers of a gray tint, collected in original inflorescences, reminiscent of beautiful berry clusters, fill the compositions with a special charm and exclusivity.

  1. We knead whitewash and a little black oil paint into clay, knead thoroughly until a uniform gray color. A close shade can be obtained by kneading a small amount of yellow and purple oil paints into cold porcelain.
  2. From a piece about 1.5-2 cm in size, we form a ball, glue it onto wire No. 24.
  3. With the edge of a pointed stack, we apply the texture over the entire surface of the workpiece.
  4. Another option to imitate the cone-shaped inflorescence of brunia is to cut the workpiece into small cloves. You need to start from the top, keep the scissors vertically, cutting the clay often, in a circle.
  5. We make thin stems about 4-6 cm long.
  6. After complete drying, we collect the inflorescences with the help of a teip tape.
  7. We form the stem – we fashion a ribbon of gray clay, coat it with glue, wrap it around the stem, smooth out all the irregularities with fingers dipped in water. Dried inflorescences can be tinted with a small amount of white oil paint using a dense dry brush.

Hare ears (Chistets, Byzantine). As soon as this interesting plant is not called. And rabbit ears, and bear ears, and sheep ears.

And all because its silvery pubescent leaves are velvety and very pleasant to the touch.

p> Used mainly as an ornamental deciduous border plant. In recent years, the Byzantine chist can often be seen in the wedding works of famous florists, as well as in winter bouquets and European compositions in the shabby chic style.

1. Knead gray-green clay (add white, green and a little black or purple oil paint). We roll out a thin layer of clay, leaving the central part of the plate a little thicker than the edges. We carefully print on the mold (in my case, the mold of a hydrangea leaf), cut out an oblong sheet with a slightly wavy edge, roll it along the edge with a dumbbell stack, glue the sheet into the wire, dry it.

2. Coat the dried leaves on both sides with a thin layer of glue and evenly sprinkle with white flock powder. Brush off excess with a brush or blow off. We collect the finished leaves in bunches with teip tape.

Terry poppy . Flowers of a bright beautiful poppy are associated with ancient legends about Demeter and Hypnos, with a wonderful fairy tale “The Wizard of the Emerald City”, in which the girl Ellie falls asleep in the middle of a poppy field, on the way to a dream…

In different countries of the world, since ancient times, people have grown poppies and knew about the special properties of this plant. Poppy was the subject of worship and worship, myths and legends were dedicated to him. With a poppy wreath on her head or with a flower in her hand, the goddess of the night Persephone, the god of sleep and dreams Morpheus were depicted. Due to the great fertility, the poppy served as a symbol of fertility and therefore was an indispensable attribute of the goddess of marriage and fertility, Hera (Juno).

Poppies are very unpretentious and stunningly beautiful during flowering. The flowers are large, solitary, usually red (white, pink, coral, yellow are less common). Most often, a poppy has four petals; in terry forms, the number reaches twenty.

As you can see in the photo, poppies in a shabby chic bouquet are a bright addition, its main color accent:

Scarlet poppies look amazing in bouquets of wild flowers, in combination with daisies and cornflowers :

  1. We paint a piece of polymer clay with a diameter of about 2 cm with green oil paint, form a slightly elongated ball. We glue it on the wire No. 22, having previously made a loop at its end.
  2. With a sharp stack or spatula, we draw notches on the basis of a flower – first we divide it into four sectors.
  3. Each sector is further divided into four parts. As a result, our middle is divided into 16 parts.
  4. With the side of the pointed stack, we slightly press the resulting segments through one – a more voluminous core of the flower is obtained. Make a small indentation in the center of the stack.
  5. We apply a small amount of glue to the core and dip it in decorative yellow or black pollen. Brush off excess pollen.
  6. We glue the middle of the flower with a large number of yellow long stamens. At this stage, I also recommend arranging and drying the flower stem.
  7. Terry poppies have up to 20 petals, you can fashion eight pieces. To do this, knead coral-colored clay (cadmium red paint plus a little whitewash), one petal needs a piece of clay 1 cm in size. We form a drop, roll it with a dumbbell stack M into a rounded petal, if necessary, cut uneven edges with scissors, print on a universal mold. To give the petals a slightly wrinkled look, you can use a piece of wrinkled foil and print additional texture on it. You can also additionally crush almost completely dried petals before gluing to the base.
  8. After we fashioned all eight petals and dried them a little, we proceed to assembly.
  9. First, glue two petals to the middle exactly opposite each other.
  10. Glue the next pair of petals perpendicular to the first two.
  11. Glue the second circle of four petals between the petals of the first row. Our poppy is ready.

English peony rose (David Austin variety). David Austin’s English roses combine the splendor of the branch and the aroma of old wild roses, large double flowers and an extensive palette of colors of modern tea hybrids, as well as abundant, uninterrupted flowering for a long time.

Crossing old roses with modern ones, Austin got completely unusual flowers, similar in appearance to romantic old roses (Oldgarden roses), with gracefully falling shoots.

This variety of roses became popular in the 80s of the XX century.

There are several basic forms of double English roses: pom-pom, shallow bowl, deep bowl, open bowl, rosette, cruciform rosette and back-curved rosette.

Peony roses amaze with the number of folded petals in the core, which create a velvety, charming flower appearance and a stunning play of light and shadow.

Rose Juliet (Juliet) – the first of the roses that David Austin began to sell cut. It has been a favorite of connoisseurs for 15 years now.

English roses give the bouquet additional luxury and elegance, originality and pomposity.

Wedding bouquets of these flowers look unusually beautiful and stylish, as well as large interior bowls-vases covered with a hat of lush peony roses.

  1. We take five wires No. 24, cut off the length necessary for the flower, make loops at the ends of the wires.
  2. We roll out the rounded petals of shabby roses with a dumbbell stack M, work out the center, forming a bulge of the petal, roll out the upper edge to translucency. We print roses on the mold, not forgetting to apply a small amount of cream on it before that. For each wire we need 4-5 petals. We dry them.
  3. We coat the bottom of the petal with glue, put the wire in the center of the petal.
  4. We fold the shabby chic rose petal, gluing its lower edges and hiding the wire inside so that it is not visible from above.
  5. We wrap the edges of the petal sideways and glue it. We have a folded petal glued to the wire.
  6. Glue the second shabby chic rose petal and wrap around the first.
  7. The edges of all subsequent petals close in front.
  8. Thus, we glue 4-5 petals on each wire. We leave to dry.
  9. We wrap a couple of petals in the same way, but without wire.
  10. We glue the petals on the side to some of our blanks for more splendor of the heart flower.
  11. We collect all our blanks from the petals together at the same level, with closed edges inward. We smear the center of the blanks with glue, wrap the stem wires tightly with teip tape. Let dry for 20-30 minutes.
  12. We fashion 10-15 petals of a lighter tone and about 1 cm larger in diameter than the first petals. We dry all the petals and glue them around the middle with an overlap, similar to a classic rose. We leave to dry.
  13. We glue the last row of five large, completely dried, opened petals. We decorate the perianth and stem.

Scabiosa . Scabiosa flowers are collected in dense capitate inflorescences, oblate-spherical or spherical, surrounded by a wrapper of bracts, funnel-shaped corolla of five fused petals, marginal flowers in the inflorescence are larger.

There is an ancient English legend, according to which the devil found scabiosa in the Garden of Eden and, out of hatred for everything, decided to destroy it.

To do this, he bit the end of the root of the plant.

Despite the intrigues of the devil, scabiosa survived, but she had one peculiarity: the root system of the plant ends so abruptly that it seems that the root was really bitten.

  1. To decorate the middle of the flower, it is necessary to pre-sculpt and dry well a large number of small balls of light green clay. Sizes – from 1 to 3 mm.
  2. From a piece of clay with a diameter of about 1-1.5 cm we form a ball, slightly flatten it and glue it onto the wire. Until the clay has hardened, we coat the middle of the flower with glue and glue our ball blanks into it tightly to each other.
  3. Next, we make the stem.
  4. We fashion a drop from a piece of white clay with a diameter of 7 mm and roll it with a dumbbell M into an elongated petal on a stem, about 1 cm long. We need 7-8 such petals for the first row. From a piece of clay about 10-15 mm we fashion an elongated drop, roll out a narrow long petal with a stack with an extension to the edge. We carefully work out the upper edge of the petal with a dumbbell stack, roll it out as thinly as possible. The base of the petal should be left denser so that the petals keep their shape better when assembling the flower. We need 14 large petals.
  5. We glue the first row of small petals, overlapping petals is allowed.
  6. We glue large petals in two rows, after drying them. The second row of large petals is placed between the petals of the first row.
  7. We fashion five sepals, glue, decorate the stem with clay.

DIY decorative shabby chic cage

Now check out the master class “Decorative cage in the style of shabby chic with your own hands” and try to make it yourself.

Graceful flower bouquets placed in openwork decorative bird cages are a stylish decoration for a European interior or a shabby chic wedding.

Such decor will become a unique decoration of the interior of a girl’s room or an original accent of a wedding celebration, which, moreover, will remind you of the happiest day of your life for many years.

The composition of the shabby cell: spray roses, jasmine, lilac, forget-me-nots, leaves.

The color scheme of the shabby chic cage: white, light blue, mint, lilac, powdery.

Jasmine (mock orange). Jasmine is an erroneous name of a shrub with a bright, pronounced aroma and delicate, lovely flowers that has entrenched in our country.

Mock orange flowers are large (from 2.5 to 6-7 cm in diameter), simple or double, white, creamy white or yellowish. Corolla usually with four, sometimes with five or six large, pure white or creamy white petals of various shapes.

Mock orange branches are often used in large interior bouquets, as well as in decorative wreaths for the bride’s hairstyle.

  1. On wire No. 26 we glue a piece of polymer clay, painted with green paint, about 2 mm in size, we form a droplet. With a stack, we divide the core into four parts (similar to a lilac flower). We glue the middle with small yellow stamens, about 1 cm long. Glue about a dozen stamens, it is advisable to glue more abundantly – 20 or more pieces for each flower.
  2. We color the clay with white paint, form a drop from a piece about 5 mm in diameter.
  3. We roll out the elongated petal with a dumbbell stack M, having carefully worked out the center of the petal and giving it an additional bulge.
  4. We fashion five petals.
  5. Glue the petals around the middle, with a slight overlap on each other.
  6. For the perianth, we fashion five sepals about 7 mm long, glue them in a circle under the petals. We make a stem.

Bush rose. The garden, in which spray roses grow, looks especially charming and cozy.

These are plants with incredibly diverse flowers in color and shape, with a delicate fragrance and abundant long flowering. Small spray roses perfectly complement the bouquet, combined with almost any flowers.

But apart from that, they can be the only flowers in the bouquet, creating a unique style with neat miniature buds.

The flowers of spray roses are much smaller in diameter than the classic ones. Several buds are located on one stem, which gives the branch a unique charm, lightness, and tenderness.

The most harmonious spray roses will look in a romantic, elegant flower arrangement using delicate pastel colors. Like a regular full-sized rose, the spray rose can be single or bicolor in any color except blue.

  1. We knead some white and red oil paints into the clay. We take a piece about 1 cm in diameter, form a drop and glue it onto wire No. 24 or 22 (after making a loop at the end of the wire).
  2. From a piece of clay about 5 mm we form a drop and with a dumbbell stack M we roll out a rounded petal, carefully work the center of the petal with the stack, it should turn out in the form of a convex cup. We print the petal on the rose mold S – it has the thinnest and most delicate texture. In total, 10-15 pink petals and 15-20 petals of a lighter shade need to be fashioned on a spray rose.
  3. We glue the first petal to the base-drop, we make them vertically, forming a bud, wrapping it in a “bag”.
  4. Next, glue the petals with the texture outward clockwise overlapping each other. We glue the first 7-8 petals tightly to the base, place them vertically, forming a bud.
  5. We glue the next row of petals more freely so that the petals open a little and move away from the bud.
  6. We print the outer petals on the mold on both sides, glue them and carefully bend their edges outward.
  7. We sculpt the last row of petals a little larger than the previous ones, dry it and glue it only at the bottom edge so that the rose turns out to be completely open.
  8. We fashion five sepals, decorate the stalk.

Forget-me-nots . Forget-me-not flowers are usually blue with a yellow or white eye, sometimes pink or white, collected in a whorl inflorescence.

The flower consists of a bell-shaped five-lobed calyx. Legends about the appearance of forget-me-not on Earth and why this flower got such a name have been folded for centuries by many peoples.

Surprisingly, in completely different countries, among different peoples, most often these legends are associated with tears shed at parting by people who love each other, with the concept of fidelity in love, good memory.

Small and beautiful forget-me-not flowers will decorate a small bouquet of wild flowers or decor:

  1. We prepare wire No. 26, cut it with pliers into segments about 10 cm long. We glue a small piece of white plastic on it, form an elongated drop, make a recess in the center of it with a pointed stack and divide the middle stack into five parts.
  2. We paint cold porcelain in light blue, adding white and a little blue paint. From a piece of about 5 mm we form a drop.
  3. We cut it to the middle into two unequal parts.
  4. We cut the larger part into three parts, the smaller one in half.
  5. We roll out petals from each part of the drop using the SS dumbbell stack. We glue the resulting flower onto a wire with a core, drowning it inside the flower.
  6. From a small piece of green clay, we form a perianth stalk, rolling it with our fingers onto the wire. If necessary, aligns the leg with fingers dipped in water. We collect the inflorescences with a teip tape, several flowers together.

Do-it-yourself assembly of the “Shabby Chic Cage” composition is carried out in six stages:

  1. We prepare all the flowers and leaves for assembly – we cut the wire at the stems to about 8-10 cm in length, we collect small flowers in inflorescences.
  2. We take a green or white teip tape, a couple of flowers and begin to collect a twig, winding the stems tightly to each other.
  3. We try to place the elements closer to each other, so that there is no empty space left. We alternate small and large flowers with leaves.
  4. Having collected a branch of the desired size, we cut off the excess wire stems with wire cutters. To mask the end of the “vine”, you can first collect the flowers on the teip tape to the middle of the branch, and then continue the assembly in the opposite direction from the opposite end of the branch.
  5. Decide in advance exactly where this or that branch on the cage will be placed.
  6. Ready-made flower “garlands” can be tied to the cage with a fishing line or thin wire.
