HomeAll flowers that start with SSyngonium plant at home

The syngonium plant has a rich color and an amazing foliage shape. This makes it attractive to grow as a landscaping crop at home, in the office or in public areas. Syngonium at home grows and develops beautifully, despite various adverse conditions in the form of dry air and excessive temperature in winter.

Syngonium description with photo

Syngonium is a small evergreen vine with bright green glossy leaves. He conquered flower growers with the polymorphism of leaf plates, that is, their shape changing depending on age and conditions – from heart-shaped or arrow-shaped in young leaves to dissected into several (from three to five or more) segments as they grow older. This is a general description of the syngonium, and photos of the plant are presented below:

Varieties and types of syngonium

The following describes the types of syngonium that are suitable for growing at home. The genus unites about 30 species of herbaceous vines leading a semi-epiphytic lifestyle in the tropical forests of Central and South America. In room culture , the varieties of sinonium obtained from the leg-leaved plant are mainly grown.

Syngonium stalk-leaved

Syngonium leguminous (Syngonium podophyllum) is an evergreen liana with a thin flexible stem and glossy bright green leaves, which at a young age are heart-shaped, then gradually acquire a segmental structure (from 3 to 11 segments).

The varieties bred recently are characterized not only by the varied color of the leaf plates (green, light green, white, red-brown), but also by the color of the veins, as well as by the size, minisyngoniums with miniature leaves (about 1 cm in diameter) and shortened internodes.

Syngonium auricular (Syngonium auritum) has young arrow-shaped leaves with two “ears”, which, as they grow older, increase significantly and become three or five times dissected.

Syngonium care at home

Syngonium is quite unpretentious. It grows well both in the shade and in bright diffused light. He likes regular watering (water must be defended), responds favorably to spraying. In winter, the roots should be protected from hypothermia (the temperature should not be lower than +15 ° C). During the period of active growth, fertilizing with small doses of calcium is carried out every two weeks. Transplanted in the spring as the earthen coma is braided with roots. For better branching, young plants are pinched over 6-7 leaves. Propagated in spring and summer by stem cuttings that take root in water or a moist substrate. This is all the care for the syngonium at home.

It should be remembered that the juice of the plant has an irritating effect on the skin and mucous membranes!

Syngonium is grown in hanging containers or on a support, for example, on a stick with coconut fiber.

Not recommended for landscaping children’s rooms!
