Some types of passion flower used in indoor floriculture can also please with delicious exotic fruits. In nature, there are more than 500 types of passionflower flowers, common in America, Asia, Australia and Madagascar. In room conditions, blue passionflower is most often grown.

Some types of room passionflower

Passiflora scarlet (Passiflora coccinea) or changeable (Passiflora foetida) – rare species of passionflower with bright red white, blue or light purple flowers.

Passiflora trifasciata (Passiflora trifasciata) is valued for its ornamental foliage. In bright light, this type of room passionflower along the main vein of the leaves “appears” a purple stripe, and the lower surface acquires a purple hue.

For landscaping closed balconies and loggias use :

Passiflora bodily (Passiflora incarnate).

And the softest passionflower, or banana (Passiflora mollissima) .

Passiflora blue

Blue passionflower (Passiflora caerulea) is an evergreen climbing liana with long woody shoots (1-2 m long), palmately dissected alternate leaves and very beautiful, bizarre and fragrant flowers with blue petals.

Between the perianth and stamens of the blue passionflower there is a special formation – a crown of numerous wavy brightly colored blue threads with almost white tips. The fruits are yellowish-orange berries.

Passiflora care at home

Passiflora indoor grows well in a bright sunny room without drafts. The optimum temperature in summer is +1 8 +20 °C, in winter it is not lower than +12 °C.

In the summer, when caring for passionflower at home, the plant should be watered abundantly and fed monthly with complex mineral fertilizers.

In autumn, to prepare for rest, the shoots are cut off, leaving 20-50 cm each, and the plant is transferred to a cool place (+8 + 10 ° C). Water infrequently, but the soil should always be slightly damp.

Young plants are transplanted annually in the spring, from the age of three every three years. Spring pruning stimulates the formation of young shoots, on which flowers appear.

Passiflora is propagated by seeds, apical cuttings and root offspring.

Indoor passionflower is beautiful almost all year round in the winter garden. In a bright and spacious room, the passion flower will quickly grow and fill all the space allotted to it.
